Sanctuary was a team senior project at Carleton University, an interactive installation built over two terms. The team constructed an arena with five rear-projection screens for a 300-degree high-definition field of view, 720 by 10,000 pixels.
For interaction, the team built a laser tracking system using infrared cameras to manipulate 3D objects projected on the screens, sent controller signals as OSC messages over the network to track multiple screens, and built a motion recognition system as a second control mechanism.
The gameplay itself was built in Unity, with particle systems, physics, deferred lighting, and a custom five-camera rig to handle the resolution.
